چکیده

Dental caries is the most common microbial disease of oral cavity, affecting 60 – 90% children worldwide. Early Childhood Caries (ECC) a major health problem in developing countries. These lesions are destructive and can affect development permanent successors. Although Streptococcus mutans primary cause ECC, some studies support view that develop absence streptococci. Scardovia wiggsiae, gram-positive anaerobe was recently found to be associated with presence mutans. The aims were investigate cariogenic potential S. ECC. study intended compare saliva samples caries-free severe thereby determine this new acidogenic species noxiousness as pathogen Caries.Saliva collected from 40 children, age ranging between three six years. sample thus at room temperature then subjected DNA extraction Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) analysis evaluate wiggsiae. Numerical parameters tested for significance using Fisher’s Exact Test statistical Epi Info software. The revealed almost equal proportion wiggsiae group ECC group. isolated detected both control groups. Comparison of Salivary Secretory IgA in Caries-free Children and Children with Severe Early Childhood Caries

Background & Aims: Sever early childhood caries (SECC) is a multifactor common disease that unfortunately there have been a lot of unknown points about it. This study was performed to compare the levels of total S-IgA in children with and without SECC. Methods: In this cross-sectional study 44 children aged 6-24 months were divided into two groups of with SECC (n=20) and without SECC (n=24). Th...

Comparison of the Salivary Immu-noglobulin Concentration Levels between Children with Early Childhood Caries and Caries-Free Children

Background: Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is one of the most common chronic child-hood diseases. In spite of the global decrease in dental caries in the past decades, ECC has become a significant problem in many developing countries and also in a few indus-trialized nations. Saliva as a host factor can play an important role in the process of den-tal caries. Objective: The aim of this study was ...

Resemblance of salivary protein profiles between children with early childhood caries and caries-free controls.

Although prolonged bottle feeding with a carbohydrate-rich content is commonly agreed to be the main etiologic factor for early childhood caries (ECC), in recent years additional endogenous factors, including the composition of saliva, have been suspected as predisposing factors in children for the development of this aggressive form of dental caries. As a basis for investigating the putative i...

Genotypic diversity and virulence traits of streptococcus sobrinus isolated from caries-free children and children suffering severe early childhood caries.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the genotypic diversity and some virulence traits of Streptococcus sobrinus (S. sobrinus) isolated from caries-free children and children suffering severe early childhood caries (SECC). METHODS S. sobrinus isolated from stimulated whole saliva samples of 91 caries-free children and 87 SECC children were subcultured, identified by polymerase chain reaction and genotyped b...
